Dulce Amazonica

Embassy to the Colombian Amazon

A Must-Visit Stop in Guatapé, The Amazonian Cultural Embassy

Dulce Amazónica isn’t an ice cream shop or souvenir stand — it’s a living cultural embassy, here to give voice and opportunity to indigenous communities in need.

More than a sweet stop, Dulce Amazónica is a movement — a grassroots initiative created to increase awareness and understanding of what is truly happening in the Amazon today. It’s a space where Indigenous voices are centered, where international visitors can engage directly with those on the front lines of environmental and cultural change, and where urgent stories are told before they are forgotten.

Manned by Indigenous community ambassadors on rotation from 18 distinct Amazonian communities, it’s a cooperative space that honors ancestral wisdom, authentic craftsmanship, and living tradition.

Here, you’re invited to learn how to explore the Amazon ethically, respectfully, and regeneratively — not as a detached tourist, but as a conscious participant in a much larger and far more significant  conversation. As global attention turns toward the Amazon, Dulce Amazónica offers a starting point for dialogue, solidarity, and collective action to protect its people, its biodiversity, its treasures  and its future.

Every visit supports direct community empowerment — community artisans sell their traditional works without intermediaries, or overhead, ensuring fair pay and meaningful connection. With support from Mountain Bike Colombia and Casa de Ciclistas this initiative brings the Amazon to life in the heart of Guatapé.

Taste the untamed Amazon with ice creams and desserts made from 25 wild superfruits (most you’ve never heard of)— all hand-harvested in the rainforest by the same communities represented here.

More than a stop, Dulce Amazónica is a movement — a place to learn how to explore the Amazon ethically, respectfully, and regeneratively, guided by those who truly call it home.

When in Guatapé, don’t just pass through — be part of something that protects, empowers, and awakens.

Inside the Embassy

Camu Camu & Moriche

🌿 Plant Medicines & Sacred Fruits

Discover the deeper purpose behind the Amazon’s most powerful fruits. Here, fruits like camu camu, moriche, aguaje, and guayusa are not just ingredients — they are respected as sacred medicines, used for generations to heal, nourish, and protect. Learn how Indigenous communities use these plants for physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing, and how each fruit carries stories, rituals, and ancestral knowledge. This is a chance to reconnect with food not as a product, but as a path to wholeness.

Understanding Indigenous Wisdom

Understand how Indigenous wisdom (which is very different than what “civilized nations” call wisdom) weaves together nature, spirit, and time into a unified way of living. Their wisdom teaches us that the Amazon is not some resource to exploit and extract fleeting riches from — it’s is a living relative. Every plant, animal, and element carries meaning and purpose, shaped by generations of observation, ceremony, and storytelling. Learn how these deep connections guide decisions, sustain communities, and have preserved balance across generations — these are powerful lessons for how we might live more consciously and respectfully today.

Explore the Amazon with Mountain Bike Colombia

Mountain Bike Colombia offers a transformative multi-day Amazon adventure.  You don’t need to be a hardcore cyclist to join us on these immersive journeys into the Amazon.  But exploring the Amazon with us will have you riding on remote ancestral trails taking you far beyond “eco-tourism”. These aren’t tours; they are genuinely regenerative, expeditions with real humanitarian missions designed to foster deep cultural exchange, provide real needed support, and advocate for the protection of indigenous communities, biodiversity and many of the threatened treasures under pressure in the Amazon. Every ride deepens your connection to the planet and helps strengthen Indigenous sovereignty, amplifies local voices, and leaves you with a lasting sense of purpose, perspective, and connection.

Face Painting & Symbolism

Every line and dot has meaning — nothing is decorative by chance. These ancestral designs are visual languages passed down through generations, each symbol carrying spiritual, cultural, and ecological significance. Discover how these patterns serve not only as artistic expression but as protective elements, worn on the body, etched into tools, or painted on homes to guard against harm, attract good energy, and maintain harmony with the natural world. Through these designs, stories are told, identities are preserved, and the sacred bond between people and the land is continually renewed.

Voices of the Amazon: Storytelling & Ancestral Wisdom

Step into a space where words are more than stories — they are spiritual pathways connecting past, present, and future. At Dulce Amazónica, you’re invited to sit with Indigenous ambassadors as they share oral histories passed down through generations — stories that hold the secrets of survival, healing, harmony, and the sacred rhythms of the jungle.

These storytelling sessions are not performances — they are shared moments of connection that reveal how the forest speaks, how dreams guide action, and how our ancestors continue to walk with us. You’ll gain insight into how Indigenous peoples understand time, spirit, and place — not as separate concepts, but as an interconnected whole.

Come listen, reflect, and reconnect — not only with the Amazon, but with the deeper roots that bind us all to the Earth and to each other.

Ethical Amazon Adventures

There’s so much to learn from our visiting Indigenous community ambassadors — not just about where and how to visit the Amazon respectfully, but about the deeper meanings behind the land, its cultures, and its struggles. These authentic, first-hand encounters offer powerful opportunities for greater understanding and connection, far beyond what mass tourism destinations like Leticia and Manous  can offer.   Go beyond the surface with meaningful, guided experiences led by those who call the Amazon home.

At Dulce Amazonica, we are guided by a deep commitment to fairness, sovereignty, and dignity. Our mission is to empower Indigenous artisans,  Adventure Guides, and hospitality workers through a model of fair trade, where they are fairly compensated for their skills and services, rooted in hard work and respect for their traditions. We believe in creating a system that encourages self-sufficiency and sustainability, where all our partnerships are founded on mutual respect and shared responsibility.

We take pride in offering comprehensive training for our Adventure Guides, and Hospitality workers, while also providing free English language and arithmetic education to enhance their opportunities and independence. While we do not accept monetary donations, we warmly welcome contributions in the form of used clothing, equipment, and volunteering opportunities for those who wish to make a difference.

We are committed to helping communities thrive independently, honoring their sovereignty and cultural heritage. Through our collaborative efforts with Mountain Bike Colombia and Casa de Ciclistas Guatapé, we aim to create an environment where empowerment, dignity, and economic independence are at the heart of every connection.
