The Communities

More than 21 indigenous communities from across the Colombian Amazon. Each one a partner, not a subject.

More than 21 Indigenous Communities

Dulce Amazónica works with more than 21 indigenous communities from across the Colombian Amazon. Each community has agreed to participate in this exchange on their own terms, bringing pieces of their world to visitors here in Guatapé.

This is not an aid program. It is a trade relationship. Communities bring artesanías to sell, ambassadors arrive each month to represent their people, and visitors get direct access to indigenous knowledge that has no other public presence.

For security reasons, we do not publish the full list of partner communities. The names and territories remain private at their request. What we can say: they come from multiple departments across the Colombian Amazon, representing distinct languages, ancestral practices, and ecological relationships.

How Partnership Works

Each month, a new ambassador arrives at Dulce Amazónica from a partner community. They bring artesanías made by their community, share knowledge with visitors, and return home with the proceeds.

We facilitate connections between visitors and communities: informal conversations, structured sessions, and FaceTime calls for those who want to go deeper. None of this replaces the value of going to the Amazon yourself — but it gives the communities an economic presence here, without requiring them to leave their territories permanently.

The model is built on the communities' terms. They decide what to share, what to sell, and how they want to be represented.
